Policies for Techquila Tax Program – Free (CVITP)

These policies ensure transparency, compliance with CRA guidelines, and a safe, respectful experience for all involved:

 

๐Ÿ“œ Eligibility Policy

This free tax service is offered under the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) and follows strict eligibility requirements set by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

  • Only individuals with simple tax situations may be served (e.g., employment income, pension, benefits).

  • We cannot file returns for:

    • Self-employed individuals

    • Rental property owners

    • Deceased individuals

    • Capital gains or business income

  • Proof of income and identity must be provided for each tax year.

 

Note: We reserve the right to decline service if the tax situation falls outside the CRA-defined scope.

๐Ÿ•’ Appointment & Drop-Off Policy

We offer in-person tax clinics, scheduled drop-offs, and document uploads.

  • Appointments must be booked in advance through our official booking system.

  • Clients are responsible for providing all required documents before their appointment.

  • No incomplete or unsigned paperwork will be processed.

  • Drop-offs must include a signed intake form and all required slips.

Missed appointments may require rebooking based on availability.

๐Ÿ” Confidentiality & Information Handling Policy

We treat your personal and financial data with the highest level of care and confidentiality.

  • All volunteers and staff are trained in privacy protocols.

  • Information is never shared without your written consent.

  • All physical and digital records are securely stored and/or destroyed after filing.

Techquila Freelancing Inc. is not responsible for delays or issues caused by inaccurate or missing client data.

๐Ÿ’ผ Service Limitations Policy

As part of the CVITP program, this is a volunteer-run, non-commercial tax preparation service.

  • We do not provide tax advice, planning, or post-filing audit support.

  • Services are limited to preparing and filing the current and up to 10 prior years’ simple returns.

  • Any questions outside this scope may be referred to the CRA or another professional.

Any errors found after filing will require refiling and are the client’s responsibility to report to the CRA.


๐Ÿงพ Consent & Filing Authorization Policy

Tax returns will only be filed after the client has:

  • Reviewed their return summary.

  • Signed the official CRA TIS60 (Taxpayer Authorization) form.

  • Given clear, written consent to file electronically.

Returns will not be filed without explicit consent, even if documents have been submitted.

๐Ÿค Conduct & Respect Policy

To ensure a safe and respectful environment for all:

  • Aggressive, disrespectful, or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Clients must arrive on time and treat all volunteers with respect.

  • We reserve the right to refuse service at any point due to violations of this policy.
