Community Volunteer Income Tax Program
This Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) Policy outlines how Techquila Freelancing Inc. (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides free tax preparation services under the CVITP, in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
This policy ensures compliance with CRA standards, confidentiality requirements, and ethical volunteer service practices.

The purpose of this policy is to define eligibility, confidentiality, and procedural standards for all clients participating in the CVITP.
Techquila Freelancing Inc. operates its CVITP clinics to assist eligible community members in filing simple tax returns at no cost.
Program Overview
The CVITP is a community-based initiative that allows trained volunteers to assist individuals with modest income and simple tax situations in preparing and filing their income tax returns.
All services are provided free of charge in accordance with CRA guidelines.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for CVITP services through Techquila Freelancing Inc., clients must meet the CRA’s eligibility criteria.
We may prepare tax returns for individuals with:

Employment income, pension, or benefits (such as CPP, OAS, social assistance).

Interest income under the CRA threshold.

Simple tax situations without complex assets or business involvement.
We cannot prepare returns for individuals with:

Self-employment or business income.

Rental or property income.

Capital gains, investment holdings, or bankruptcies.

Deceased individuals.
Proof of identity and income (e.g., T-slips and receipts) must be provided for each tax year being filed.
Confidentiality & Data Security

All client information is handled with strict confidentiality and in compliance with the CRA CVITP Volunteer Agreement.

Documents are collected, processed, and stored securely during tax preparation and destroyed once filing is complete.

No information will be shared or used outside the scope of the CVITP program.

Volunteers sign confidentiality agreements and undergo CRA-approved training before assisting clients.
Consent & Authorization
All clients must sign the official TIS60 – Community Volunteer Income Tax Program Consent Form prior to return preparation.
This form authorizes volunteers to access and file tax information on the client’s behalf and is retained in accordance with CRA requirements.
Appointment & Document Submission
CVITP appointments may be booked through our website, client portal, or by phone.
Clients must:

Bring all relevant tax slips, receipts, and identification.

Provide complete and accurate information for each tax year.

Arrive on time for their scheduled appointment or communicate any cancellations in advance.
Incomplete or missing documentation may result in delayed or declined service.
Volunteer Conduct & Compliance
All Techquila Freelancing Inc. volunteers:

Complete CRA-approved training prior to participation.

Follow all CRA policies, confidentiality standards, and electronic filing procedures.

Are prohibited from accepting tips, gifts, or compensation for CVITP services.

Must act professionally and respectfully when assisting clients.

While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, Techquila Freelancing Inc. and its volunteers are not liable for errors, omissions, or CRA reassessments that result from incomplete or incorrect client information.
Program Updates
CRA guidelines for the CVITP may change annually.
This policy will be updated as needed to reflect new CRA requirements or internal procedural adjustments.
Acknowledgment
By participating in the CVITP through Techquila Freelancing Inc., clients acknowledge and accept this policy and confirm that they meet program eligibility requirements as set out by the CRA.
